| I've had a few random thoughts for games lately, and have wanted to try developing a few of these. The prime question? Which game engine to do it in. I've been looking at Unity3d recently; it looks nice. UDK seems a little out of my league at this point, but does anyone know any other decent game engines I have yet to stumble across? | |

| You could always try to make your own, though it is probably out of your league at the moment, I don't really know much about game engines yet I seem to stick to modding the games that are based on them | |

| Try attempting it through unity 3d web-player, it has some really great effects from alot of the games programmed through it. | |

| I was wondering if anyone knows any good RPG game makers, and by RPG I mean the old type, like the kinda side-scroller kinda over-the-top view.
Oh, and preferably one where it has basic textures I can use, but can easily add my own. I also want to be able to add music and such (which I expect is most of the game makers anyway)
Thanks in advance to anyone who can tell me of such a thing.

| Actually, while I'm browsing this thread, I'll ask.
Does anyone know of any good RTS game engines? I've been dying to make this sort of game for AGES now, but I've come up blank. Any information is good information.

| Gosh. I'm surprised you haven't heard of the genre before.
Real-Time Strategy. Basically, collect resources, build up an army and conquer the map. Well, generally that's the case.
